Exploring AI and Cybersecurity at the IDA Ireland Innovation Forum
I was delighted to be invited to speak at the IDA Ireland Innovation Forum on November 21, 2024. The forum brought together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders to share knowledge, discuss trends, and explore new opportunities for innovation in a collaborative setting. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with senior leaders and decision-makers from multinational corporations in Ireland, share insights, and explore the latest innovations shaping the future of the industry.
As a panelist for the “Gen AI & Cyber Resilience” discussion, I provided insights from my work in AI and cyber staffing at Alldus, as well as updates on the AI landscape in Ireland from my role as founder of AI Ireland and the AI Awards.
The panel included esteemed professionals:
- Donal Óg McCarthy, MD of EMEA Cloud and Application Security at Accenture
- Nathan Marlor, Head of Data and AI at Version 1
- Moderated by Eoin Byrne Cyber Ireland
Our session focused on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on cyber resilience, covering:
- State of AI Adoption: How businesses are integrating AI into their operations.
- Cybersecurity Threat Landscape: The effects of AI on emerging cyber threats.
- Secure AI Integration: Strategies for organizations to adopt AI securely and enhance their cyber defenses.
The discussion was dynamic and insightful, shedding light on how AI is reshaping cybersecurity and the importance of staying ahead in this evolving landscape.
Later in the day, the forum featured other insightful sessions and panels, including:
- “Innovation Management – Implementing ISO 56002” with Sean McNulty, Founder of Insight Innovate, and Breda O’Toole, Head of Talent Development and Digitalisation at IDA. They emphasized the significance of structured innovation processes for sustainable growth.
- “Industry 5.0” presentation by Sean Costello, Director of InnoGlobal, focusing on the next industrial revolution where human creativity meets machine efficiency.
- “Industry 5.0 Sustainability & Resilient Supply Chains” panel discussion chaired by Sean Costello, with representatives from Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly, Dell Technologies, and WrxFlo. The panel explored building sustainable and resilient supply chains in the modern industrial landscape.
- “Emerging Technologies and Opportunities for Ireland Inc.” covering topics like the EU Chips Act and semiconductor R&D, with speakers from Enterprise Ireland, Tyndall, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment (DETE), and Analog Devices.
The forum was a thought-provoking event that highlighted Ireland’s position at the forefront of technological innovation and industrial advancement. I’m grateful to the IDA for organising this exceptional gathering and to Joan Ahern, Dr. Chantelle McCann Kiernan, and Breda O’Toole for their efforts in coordinating such a successful event.
